Federal officials make the case for EHR usability

EHRs need to be usable, benefit doctors and work within the health care facility's systems so as not to waste the investment made on these technologies, officials with the ONC and National Institute of Standards and Technology said at a recent conference. Meaningful use certification and keeping the provider end-user in mind when designing EHRs are some ways to achieve EHR usability, they said.
