Most MU-eligible EHRs meet federal, certification standards

About 22,000 hospitals and other health care providers with complete EHR systems have achieved meaningful use so far, according to the CMS. More than two-thirds of these MU-eligible EHRs satisfy both the standards set by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and requirements of the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology program. These systems have been tested for safety, functionality and interoperability, said Dr. Karen Bell, CCHIT's chairwoman.
