Dempsey: Sequestration would "upend" U.S. defense strategy

Sequestration threatens to push the U.S. into an unprecedented military readiness crisis, said Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, while testifying before the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday. "Sequestration will upend our defense strategy. It will put the nation at greater risk of coercion. And it will require us to break commitments to our men and women in uniform and their families, to our defense industrial base, and to our partners and allies," Dempsey said.
