Live coverage of shootout draws big numbers to L.A. news outlets

Los Angeles' six local broadcast stations saw their ratings soar Tuesday night for their live coverage of the shootout between police and fugitive Christopher Dorner. The outlets garnered a combined audience of more than 2 million, more than twice the number that usually tunes in at 5 p.m. KABC attracted 708,000 viewers, improving its rating by 110% over its February sweeps-to-date average, while KCBS and KCAL together tallied 680,000 viewers.
