Most consumers rely on friends for product advice

More than three-quarters of consumers rely on the advice of friends or family members to make decisions about purchasing an unfamiliar product, a study from Nielsen shows. Meanwhile, 70% say they look online for reviews and 66% say they rely on recommendations from an expert. Nielsen notes the results show an increasing role for word-of-mouth marketing via social media.
