Opera buys mobile-video compressor Skyfire to quicken delivery

Browser developer Opera shelled out $155 million to buy Skyfire Labs in a move designed to strengthen and speed up its delivery of mobile video, the companies announced. Skyfire said the Rocket Optimizer video optimization software it delivers to three major U.S. carriers expands bandwidth capacity by 60%, thus speeding delivery over 3G and 4G networks.
