Xbox 360 sales top the Wii U in January, NPD reports

Microsoft sold 281,000 Xbox 360 units in January, outperforming sales of Nintendo's Wii U and other rival systems, according to NPD Group, which said Xbox 360 has been the best-selling console for 25 consecutive months. The market research firm reported U.S. retail sales of game hardware, software and accessories were up 9% in January to $834.7 million, compared with $766 million a year earlier.
