Richels: Gas production will drop after first quarter

U.S. natural gas production should grow in the first quarter of 2009 and then begin to decline, says Devon Energy President John Richels. While production continues on projects started last year, the falling rig count is seen as an indicator that production may fall later in the year. "In the same way you don't start production overnight, you don't stop production overnight," Richels said.
