Gas projects spur increase in ExxonMobil's 2009 proved reserves

Natural gas ventures this past year helped ExxonMobil add 2 billion barrels of oil equivalent to its proved reserves despite discovering fewer oil deposits. About 1 billion barrels were from the oil major's gas projects in Australia and Papua New Guinea, which allowed the company to replace 192% of the gas it generated for that year.
