EPA's 1 million-year standard embraced by NRC for Yucca

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced Tuesday it is adopting the Environmental Protection Agency's 1 million-year standard for used nuclear fuel at the proposed Yucca Mountain repository in Nevada. The radiation limit now is 15 millirem for the first 10,000 years after disposal and 100 millirem from 10,001 years to 1 million years.
