Apache reports leaking natural gas well in Gulf

Fifteen nonessential workers were evacuated from Apache's drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico following tests that showed natural gas from the well was migrating underneath the seabed. "We evacuated nonessential personnel, we brought in the experts, and we notified the government," said John Roper, a spokesman for Apache. "The procedures worked; the safety systems are doing their job."
