Wash. school district seeks to update social studies curriculum

Washington state's Central Valley School District in Spokane Valley will pilot nearly 20 new books as part of a comprehensive overhaul of the district's social studies curriculum. Students currently use books that do not mention key historical moments, such as Sept. 11 or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, school officials said.
