CMS appoints new senior executive and looks to reorganize

CMS has made Marilyn Tavenner, a former Health and Human Resources secretary in Virginia, its principal deputy administrator. The Obama administration, however, still has to nominate a candidate for the position of CMS administrator. CMS also is looking to reorganize its component centers, which could be effective in 60 days, said Charlene Frizzera, the agency's chief operating officer.
