Pittsburgh surgeons seek face transplant approval

The University of Pittsburgh's Institutional Review Board is considering a request from surgeons at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center that would allow doctors there to begin performing face transplants. The team, which is led by plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph E. Losee, says the surgery is necessary to help patients with severe facial deformities regain their social lives.
