Editorial: Engineers should decide fate of Calif. nuclear plant

Politicians and activists should be left out of discussions about the fate of Southern California Edison's San Onofre nuclear plant in California, which has been offline since January 2012 because of steam-generator issues, writes the editorial board of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Allowing engineers to determine how to safely restart the facility is in the public's best interest, the board argues.
