EHR incentive payments to health care providers reach $3.1 billion

The CMS has so far given $3.1 billion in incentive payments to 41,000 doctors and 2,000 hospitals nationwide for their use of certified electronic health records to enhance patient care, according to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Sebelius added that the proportion of hospitals using EHRs reached 35% last year, based on American Hospital Association data.
