2 Topeka, Kan., hospitals expand wound care centers to meet demand

Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center moved its existing wound clinic to a larger space and added a second hyperbaric oxygen chamber. St. Francis Health Center expanded operating hours from one day a week to five days a week and also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy. In 2009, 1,206 people with diabetes in Kansas were hospitalized for lower-limb wounds, according to a report from the Kansas Diabetes Action Council.
