AHIMA urges attention to clinical documentation in EHRs

The quality and integrity of clinical data in EHRs need to be addressed now "before health information exchanges become widespread," AHIMA official Michelle Dougherty said in testimony before the ONC's HIT Policy Committee. To that end, the group offered four recommendations, starting with advancing data governance and management to ensure that information is being managed as an asset, and decision-making and oversight processes are pursued proactively.
