Fuel surcharges can add hundreds of dollars to international fares, writes columnist Joe Sharkey. The cost of fuel continues to rise for airlines across the globe. "Last week, jet fuel was $3.30 a gallon," he writes. "By comparison, jet fuel was $2.05 a gallon in January 2010."
