N.J. hospital gainsharing initiative reduces costs

A New Jersey hospital gainsharing initiative to reduce costs by eliminating unnecessary practices and providing more efficient care is among four payment models being tested by the CMS nationwide. The pilot project, which also measures quality of care, has resulted in average savings of 8% to 10% for participating New Jersey hospitals.
