PE teachers play bigger role in teaching math, language arts

Students nationwide are learning math and English in an unlikely place -- the gym. Elementary-school students in a Florida district count by fours while performing exercises, and in a Virginia district, students count exercise sets in foreign languages. Education officials say this trend is an effort to make physical education more relevant during a time when education in core subjects often takes precedence in schools.
