Study: High-risk ICU patients do not get proper nutrition

An analysis of 193 ICUs in 29 countries found patients at high-risk of harm from improper nutrition received only 65% of prescribed calories and 51.5% of protein, according to Canadian researchers who reported the study at Clinical Nutrition Week 2013. There was geographical variation in the data, researchers said, with ICUs in Canada showing the best outcomes and ICUs in the U.S. having the worst outcomes.
