Survey: Search engines outpace social media in consumer trust

Consumers consider search engines to be about as trustworthy as traditional media when getting general news and information, according to the 2013 Edelman Trust Barometer. Social media lags behind the two other sources in terms of consumer trust, and younger consumers and those who live in emerging countries are generally more trusting, the survey found.
