Missouri will complete cable-stayed bridge in 2011

The Missouri Department of Transportation expects to complete the first cable-stayed vehicle bridge to span the the Missouri River by mid-2011. The bridge will feature a single reinforced concrete, delta-shaped pylon supported by eight 11-foot-diameter drill shafts atop 10.5-foot diameter rock sockets. The bridge will rise 316 feet above the river and is the focal point of the state's $245 million Interstate 29/35 Connections project.
