HIT expert forecasts potential paradigm shift

The health IT landscape could change in the future due to the development of fully integrated tools for accountable care organizations and EHRs that traditional software vendors might not be able to reproduce, writes David J. Kempson, vice president and chief information officer of the Maricopa Integrated Health System. He forecasts that CIOs 10 years from now will favor HIT developers that have the ability to launch cloud-based and high-functionality EHR with integrated HIE.
