Falling cost of wind power challenges Texas utility, helps consumers

The slumping cost of wind power in Texas is compounding the problems of power company Energy Future Holdings, which is already saddled with huge debts and falling revenue, writes blogger Mitchell Schnurman. Wind power expansion in Texas "is having [a] significant impact on prices already and has been for the last three or four years," said EFH CEO John Young. The falling cost of wind power, however, is good for consumers, Schnurman notes.
