Tenaska to include carbon capture in new power plant

Tenaska, a privately held energy company, has filed for permits to build the first commercial coal-fired power plant with carbon capture technology. The company said up to 90% of the plant's carbon dioxide emissions will be diverted from the atmosphere and transported via pipeline to the Permian Basin oilfields for storage. If permits are approved, Tenaska said it will make a final decision on the $3 billion plant near Sweetwater, Texas, in 2009.
