Google will test traditional pay-TV service, analysts say

Google, based on recent regulatory filings, is a "near-certainty" to launch a cable TV service in Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo., according to Sanford C. Bernstein analysts Carlos Kirjner and Craig Moffett. The online giant's decision to focus on traditional pay TV could be "an admission" that broadband TV alone "is not economically viable," Moffett writes. Nevertheless, Moffett isn't convinced that Google's startup will flourish. "Count us as skeptics," he writes.
