Edison denies alleged possible violation of security laws

Southern California Edison denied accusations that it failed to disclose an alleged decision to skip recommended safety upgrades at its San Onofre nuclear plant in California because they would require a lengthy review process. Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., in a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission, alleged that Edison International's investors might not have been fully informed about steam-generator issues at the facility. Edison "would never, and did not, install steam generators that it believed would not perform safely," the company said.
