Laura Bush asks to be removed from ad touting marriage equality

Former first lady Laura Bush has asked to be removed from a pro-marriage equality ad campaign produced by the Respect for Marriage Coalition. Bush’s spokesman said she was not consulted about the inclusion of a 2010 CNN clip in which she says committed same-sex couples "ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has." The ad also includes news clips featuring former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Secretary of State Colin Powell and President Barack Obama, among others.
