Report: U.K. consumption of wheat ethanol soared in 2010-11

The U.K. consumed 18 million gallons of domestically made sugar-beet-based ethanol in the 2010-2011 period, up from 16.6 million gallons in 2009-2010 and 10.9 million gallons in 2008-2009, according to data from the U.K. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Consumption of domestically produced wheat-based ethanol topped 31.6 million gallons in 2010-2011, up from about 238,000 gallons in 2009-2010 and zero in 2008-2009, the agency said.
