Vestas lays off workers in Colo.

Vestas Wind Systems laid off 10% of its 1,100 workers in Colorado on Thursday, as it had planned, with most of the layoffs occurring in the company's wind-blade manufacturing plants in Windsor and Brighton. The company said it had to cut jobs to adjust to sluggish sales after Congress failed to act swiftly to extend the wind-energy Production Tax Credit. The Windsor and Brighton wind-blade factories, which had temporarily shifted to a 32-hour work schedule in January, will be reverting to a 40-hour week schedule starting on Feb. 25, the company said.
