AHIP: MA plans are a "lifeline" for minorities, poor

Proposed cuts to Medicare Advantage plans will hurt those who need help most, AHIP argues. "Medicare Advantage is a lifeline for millions of low-income and minority Medicare beneficiaries who rely on the high-quality coverage and innovative programs and services these plans provide," AHIP president and CEO Karen Ignagni said. The plans are particularly popular among black and Hispanic seniors, according to an AHIP report, and 41% percent of MA beneficiaries live on less than $20,000 a year.
