Industry specialists offer insights on future of CIO post

As the economic crisis continues to take its toll and organizational needs change, CIOs increasingly are vulnerable to restructuring or job cuts and must adapt to survive, industry experts said. CIOs should shed their image as IT managers and emphasize their role as "executive guardians" of information. They should also be capable of strategic planning and "turn technology into a competitive advantage" that significantly contributes to growth, suggested Nitin Kumar, a strategist and management specialist.
