Nvidia eases the way for quad-core devices to offer LTE

Smartphone- and tablet-makers who equip devices with Nvidia's Tegra 3 quad-core processor will have an easier road to offering 4G Long-Term Evolution technology, the company said Thursday in announcing a partnership with modem chipmakers GCT Semiconductor and Renesas Mobile to develop and support the modems. Renesas said devices that include the Tegra 3 and its own SP2531 LTE modem would reach the market around June.
