NSN sees major industry shake-up as Siemens signals exit

Germany's Siemens is accelerating its efforts to cut its ties or reduce its 50% stake in telecom network vendor Nokia Siemens Networks, according to a published report. The news broke just as an NSN executive predicted Sunday that consolidation will reduce the telecom gear maker roster to three companies. "The players who make it will need to be focused and lean," NSN CEO Rajeev Suri said. One of those players, China's Huawei Technologies, has unnerved some carriers by pouring enormous resources into becoming one of the world's most powerful vendors. "We need more than one vendor. We don't want to give 100% of our business to Huawei," said Joachim Horn of Sweden's Tele2.
