Common core math tasks students with explaining their answers

Educators in San Diego County in California are working to incorporate Common Core State Standards in their curriculum in anticipation of the official rollout of the standards in 2014. In one math class, students are asked to show how they reached a particular answer and to think critically about peers' answers.
