Siemens: Export orders prompt restaffing of wind-turbine operations

New orders for projects outside the U.S. have prompted Siemens to restaff its wind-turbine manufacturing facilities in Fort Madison, Iowa, and Hutchinson, Kan., said Monika Wood, a company spokeswoman. The decision is not directly a result of the extension of the wind-energy Production Tax Credit, but the renewal "gives us confidence in the American market," Wood said. "As projects move forward and we receive new wind turbine orders sparked by the PTC extension, we will continue to adjust our operations accordingly," she said.
