FDIC says regulators not pursuing bank nationalization

Sheila Bair, chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., said federal banking regulators are not planning to nationalize troubled financial institutions. "Nationalization means different things for different people, but nationalization is not the route we're pursuing now," Bair said. The FDIC and other regulatory agencies are working on a bank rescue that includes capital injections and aid to millions of struggling homeowners.
