Feds bought more FFVs than hybrids, EVs in fiscal 2011

The federal government bought more flex-fuel vehicles than hybrid and electric cars in fiscal 2011, according to government data. The U.S. General Services Administration bought 32,000 flex-fuel vehicles in fiscal 2011, while its purchases of hybrid and electric vehicles declined by 59% to about 2,645 in the same period. However, the limited number of E85 filling stations means that most drivers of flex-fuel vehicles still use gasoline, said Rebecca Lindland, an analyst at IHS Automotive.
