AAFP says CPT code edits could affect vaccination rates

An AAFP letter to the head of the National Correct Coding Initiative said new CPT code edits that allow insurers to pay for vaccine administration and yet reject payment for evaluation and management services delivered during the same patient visit could affect vaccination rates for adults. "The reality is that the edit creates an extra barrier that practices must overcome while seeking proper payment for vaccine administration," said AAFP Board Chair Glen Stream, M.D.
