Bernanke says U.S. Fed's asset buying will continue

The potential benefits to the U.S. economy from the Federal Reserve's asset buying take precedence over the risks posed by asset bubbles or inflation that might ensue, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke told the Senate Banking Committee. Although Bernanke noted that the Fed takes "very seriously" the possible consequences of its bond buying, he said the program would continue. Separately, Bernanke said the automatic budget cuts due beginning Friday would add a "significant" burden to the U.S. economy.
