CPOE adoption can cut medication errors, study finds

Using computerized provider order entry systems to process prescription orders reduced the possibility for errors by 48%, a study based on data from the American Hospital Association Annual Survey and EHR Adoption Database finds. "Current policies to increase CPOE adoption and use will likely prevent millions of additional medication errors each year," researchers said.
