National community college program serves older workers

Twenty-eight institutions nationwide are participating in the American Association of Community Colleges' new Plus 50 Encore Completion Program, which seeks to curb unemployment among older workers. With data showing that out-of-work older adults remain unemployed longer than younger job seekers, the program's goal is to train about 10,000 baby boomers over the next three years for jobs in high-demand fields. For Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania, that includes nursing, dental hygiene and other medical fields.
