Rivals seek to stem Samsung's momentum

Google and Samsung Electronics have successfully teamed up against Apple, but the South Korean company's climb to the top of the smartphone market has made Google executives anxious that Samsung could gain the upper hand in their partnership and perhaps erode the Internet firm's mobile-ad revenues. Samsung's success has left analysts and industry executives wondering whether its Android rivals can eat into its leading share of the smartphone and tablet markets. Separately, Google is wrestling with its options for the struggling Motorola Mobility division, with one executive saying that it was possible that Android and Motorola might combine to produce a "Nexus" device.
