Saputo to leave Europe, focus on other markets

Canadian dairy processor Saputo is closing its German cheese facility and preparing to close its operations in Wales as it looks to focus on growth in the U.S., Latin America and possibly Australia. "[T]he company made the decision that as attractive as the size of the [European] consumer market might be, for processors this was not a region that would deliver the kind of shareholder value" Saputo needs, said RBC Dominion Securities analyst Irene Nattel.
