AT&T offers global M2M service, signs deal with energy-storage firm

AT&T has disclosed a pair of deals related to its burgeoning machine-to-machine business. The carrier says it will offer a global service for connected and M2M devices built around a SIM that works with the carrier's service-management platform to manage device deployment and operations worldwide. The telecom also said that energy-storage provider Ice Energy will use AT&T's M2M tools to help track and maintain its system units.
