Holistic medicine practitioners say digestive and food enzyme supplements can help with all types of ailments, but Dr. Donald Kirby at the Cleveland Clinic's Digestive Disease Institute says the science backing up the claims is not convincing. He says most people have healthy digestive systems, and those who need supplemental enzymes should be under a physician's care for a medical illness.
