Pediatrics group reaffirms breast-feeding guidelines

The American Academy of Pediatrics published Monday a policy statement reaffirming its recommendation for exclusive breast-feeding for a baby's first six months, followed by continued breast-feeding with complementary foods. "Infant feeding should not be considered as a lifestyle choice but rather as a basic health issue," authors wrote in the journal Pediatrics.
