Architecture index's growth signals boom in design, building

The demand for architectural design and other services is expected to rise in the near future as the Architecture Billings Index reached 54.2 points in January, according to the American Institute of Architects. The latest growth is the highest since November 2007. "We have been pointing in this direction for the last several months, but this is the strongest indication that there will be an upturn in construction activity in the coming months," said Kermit Baker, AIA chief economist.
